About 6 months or so I wanted to converte some pics from PC (SuperVGA) to AmigaHAM. For that task I started to search convK erte programs and I found two: VirtGIF and GIF2HAM. Both programs were designed to converte GIF-pics to HAM but when I started to test them I soon founded that the programs could not satisfy my needs because they were very slow and conversion was bad. After that I started to code my own converte program which I thought to be the best and the fastest in the world... Did I succeed? You can be the judge! LONG RUN... At first I of course started to think algorithm for picture conversion{ and it was quite hard to invente. I can tell you that the algorithm is very simple and reasonable fast. When the algorithm was ready I got great idea to improve the HAM-mode. Then I simply coded the program and named that new mode as DreamHAM. Of course I was too lazy to code normal HAM conversion routine at the same time. But now (26.03.1991) I get enough strenght to do it. It is also possible that in the 'near' future I'll make bitmap-routines.. S *OFTWARE REQUIRMENTS You need ARP.library and KickStart 1.2 or newer. HARDWARE REQUIRMENTS MINIMUM: Amiga 512 KB Ram 1 DiskDrive Note: With this hardware the use is only bad joke!  ENOUGH: Amiga 1024 KB Ram 1 DiskDrive Note: This is enough in most of the cases. So you may be able to look it someday. So why to use this mode? - Better quality: picture is sharper and cleaner than HAM. ! You can m3Qgpake tool icon for DHAM picture and show it from WorkBench ! Other options: Force color 0 to black - This option affects only DHAM! This options removes colorbars from the picture. Fortunately the pixelerror may be little bit higher when this options is on. If you got picture which width is under 320 this option is must. Force interlace - Forces picture to be showed in interlace. You can toggle this option without converting the pic again. This option will affect also to saved EXE  0file. (Also IFF-ILBM but not SHAM) HalveMix off - Normally when picture is halved every two pixel is averaged to one. I ??FF-ILBM was natural choice because all other machines got programs to chance their weird pictureformats to IFF. However I must tell you that there is new IFF-PBM format what new PC-Dpaint2 supports so if you use it and want to move pics to Amiga, remember save pictures to ILBM form. V0.96 Some new modes added and many bugs fixed: Now all IFF-ILBM files should be handled correctly. Picture is centered if its width is under 320 pixels. You can always control the size of the pic. You ca yn load entire picture at once if you have enough memory. The speed of DHAM conversion is improved, especially when sourcepic have lots of colors. Show converting option removed because of its useless. DHAM conversion disables multitasking (comments!) because it now needs blitter. Three new options added: Force color 0 to black, Force interlace and HalveMix off. All of them are useful. If you don't want to read more don't change their default values. V0.97 SHAM support added with one |Ӣ difference between other SHAM-convertors (like gifmachine, good convertor but VERY slow). HamLab never save SHAM with interlace flag on. Of course you can save every DHAM-picture to SHAM but you can't show them in interlace. This problem comes from the fact that SHAM format don't allow interlaced picture to change base color every line. (I think that this limitation was created because you can't put laced copperlines to CUSTOMSCREEN! - I noticed that when I was creating customscreen Kp0-header for DHAM. I dropped that idea because KickStart 1.2 and 1.3 seems to have one bug which causes the screen with copper to work inproperly in PALedge if the copwaits are big enough.) There is also second limitation: You must put 'force color 0 to black' on before converting or else you can't get SHAM picture! (This shouldn't be the case but MOSTRA (my favourite viewing program) don't show SHAM picture right if this options is off.) Because of those limitations you are forced to, use exe-header for interlaced pics to get right result! Example: You have 640*480*8 SuperVGA pic and you converte it to 320*480 <- Use exe-header, but if you converte it to 640*480 you can also use SHAM. V0.98 One minor bug fixed: HAM saving was broken... There may be also some problems with those exe-headers but only one who has complained about them has been my cousin and because I know that he is little bit unthrusworthy I don't believe that there really is problems...
