New Demo takes one of the most familiar elements of early demoscene culture—the scrolling message—and makes it the production’s central graphical effect. Instead of placing text beneath an unrelated logo or animation, Wild Copper sends individual characters around a circular path and gives the lettering itself the starring role.
The presentation is limited in scope and offers little progression after its central idea has been understood, but the effect is clear, technically focused and historically impressive for early 1988. The Chipset Jury awards New Demo 86% — Excellent.
